His gift

It was Christmas Day in heaven
And he thought they'd all forgot
Too busy opening presents
His unhappiness to spot
He changed some water into wine
And had a quiet drink
While pondering on two thousand years
Now he had some time to think
He thought about his lowly birth
In that stable filled with hay
And wondered what became of those
Who visited that day
There were three shepherds and a lamb
He was sure one had a crook
That saw the star rise in the sky
And they came to have a look.
All went well till half past ten
The cattle lowing more
Then came the knock of three wise men
Upon the stable door
They brought him gifts of frankincense of gold
And yes some myrrh
To see the king the star foretold
And worship to confer
They brought the news from Herod's court
These Magi from the East
They told him of the king they sought
Yet declined to stay and feast
So Joseph, Mary and the babe all fled to far off lands
>From Herod's plot infanticide
Where a child's blood stained kings hands
To stay in deserts of the moon in grains of sand to hide
And as he poured a second glass of water changed to wine
He noted that it all went quiet in heaven on that day
No seraphs and no cherubim's no angels could he find
A vacant cloud just drifted by, alone on his birthday
Then in a flash of golden light stood Gabriel with a book
Did you really think we all forgot this one-day in a year?
We have no candles or a cake but let's just have a look
Today JC this is your life and we have it all in here.
The details of a virgin birth the wise men from the east
A lowly stable at the inn the night demand increased
The shepherds three that came to see a newborn king that night
They brought a lamb to start you off in tribute to a mite
A star was seen upon that night it was so bright and clear
And really it's the only guest that tonight can be here
Two thousand years it roamed the skies in a circle round the sun
So say hello to Jupiter but a star it is not one
The only other guest that night was the angel of the lord
We can't find him but he was there you will have to take my word
The angel closed the holy book and gave it to the lord
With the passage written long ago marked by a golden cord
We know you don't get presents or a card on your birthday
So we all put in and got you this to remind you of that day
We did not know what you might need so I hope it is alright
It was round and hard, all wrapped up and solid but quite light
A small glass orb with water filled the scene a stable small
And as he shook it so it snowed the whiteness covered all
Whilst down on earth he heard the glee as children opened presents
No thought of god nor yet of him set there up in the heavens
He shook the globe to snow once more inside this present rare
And watched as snowflakes gently fell on Christmas day down there
