Idyllic beauty

As winter dies in warming air
new life begins, on branches bare.
The sun heats up to lift the gloom
while blossom trees begin to bloom.

The privet hedge with its trimmed crown
looks naked with its leaves of brown.
The grass, still green, begins to grow
now it has lost its coat of snow.

Some work is needed on the thatch
to help repair a thinning patch.
As birds return and try their best
to gather bedding for a nest.

The chimney’s smoke shall no more blow,
as bright, warm rays begins to glow.
This sleepy hollow now awakes
with scents of jam and baking cakes.

The seasons change, yet life goes on,
resurfacing, when winter’s gone.
Returning colour to the skies
as nature never really dies.

The cottage soon will lift its face,
and fast become a tranquil place.
Idyllic beauty all around
where peace and harmony is found.
