You must have the flu

I'm sitting here thinking I must write a short poem
In the comfort and quiet of my cosy wee home!
I am propped up on pillows so sumptuous and soft
Because for three or four days now I have sneezed and I've coughed!

My eyes they were running and my nose it dripped too
And my clever young friends said "Well you must have the 'flu!"
So they offered their help - plus their care and devotion
I was made "open up wide!" to down every last pill or some foul-tasting potion!

Well, I admit that something has worked 'cos the sneezing has stopped
Although all of the wax in my ears it has popped!
My cough's not as bad though my voice it has gone
And its seems that my breath has thee most TERRIBLE pong!!

My eyes are all bloodshot from the coughing and straining
And a mouth covered in cold sores is thankfully all that's remaining
That shows I was suffering from a dose of the 'flu!
This wee poem's an apology - because while caring for me - I then give it to you!!
