Will I last through this night?

I said I felt sick -
I really felt queasy,
So I went to my bed
To lie and rest easy!
Each time I stood up
My head it spun round
And I collapsed in a heap
To my knees on the ground!

If I opened my eyes
My stomach would churn
And the acids would rise
And my throat it would burn!
As I lay in that bed
I would gasp and I'd wheeze
As I tried not to cough
And I tried not to sneeze!

On minute I'm hot
And the next I am cold
"You must get some rest!"
By the Doctor I'm told!
But,  it isn't that simple  -
In my head beats a drum,
And I'd kill for this toddy
Of hot sticky rum!

I glance in the mirror
Oh God! What a sight!
I look like I'm dying  -
Thinks - "Will I last through this night??"
The toddy's kicked in now  -
The tablets have too
As I turn from the basin
That holds all my spew!!

Today it is sunny
And the weather's just fine
And I'm starting this new day
By leaving sickness behind!
I'm out of this bed now  -
All scrubbed clean and new  -
Oh!  I feel so much better
Now I'm over the 'flu!!!
