I'm standing in the daylight looking all around
Filled with admiration from the sky down to the ground
For a World that's give us daylight, flowers and birdsong
And I wonder what will happen when all of us are gone?
I won't live forever although I really wish
I could
As I want to save the wildlife in the disappearing wood.
Too many things are daying off like mammal, bird and fern
I feel that Earth it cries to us - "Wake up and show concern!"
From the very moment time began, you strove
to serve us well
Providing life's necessities from the highest hill to dell.
But then we began abusing you by taking everthing we need
And didn't even notice our resources starting to recede.
We stripped your trees for firewood, for
paper and for tools;
We fished the seas 'til fish were gone and polluted Nature's pools;
We raped and plundered Nature's soil and built on every inch -
Everytime a tree is felled we can almost here you winch!
The Seas are filled with effluent and oil
slicks dark and black;
Forests felled and flattened so nothing can grow back;
This means the loss of songbirds, butterflies, ape and even fruit -
Why didn't man replace the things that he set out to loot?
There'll be nothing left to inherit when out
grandchildren come of age -
Our Planet then will be for them - just a vast and empty stage;
No sun, no moon, no flower or bird or baby's nursery song -
And I wonder what WILL happen when all of us are gone?? |
