I gaze out upon this hillside
On which I daily feast my eyes
And view this lovely landscape
Where it's laid beneath the skies.
It rests there dark and quiet
All through the lonely night
Then slowly comes to life again
With the dawning of daylight.
There are mountains in the distance
And a stillness in the air
And all of God's creations
Surround me everywhere.
Although life is pretty hectic here
It stays tranquil and serene -
This scene that lies before me
Which is so pretty and so green!
There's no money in my pocket
And friends I've very few -
But I feel like such a winner
When I look out upon this view!
