The nightmare

In the darkest of shadows
In this deep, deep pit
Blood-curdling screams
The air they do split!
Over-whelming fear
My heart it constricts,
Whilst in my throat
My plea it just sticks!
Blood-stains are widening -
From the shadows they seep,
Soiling the night air
Where I try to sleep.
Death has a tight grip
As my soul it now seeks,
In the valley below
The Banshee she shrieks!
I'm gasping, I'm choking,
I'm trying to breathe,
As the life from my body
It is starting to leave!
I'm begging for help
But it seems none will come  -
My body they'll find
In the warm noonday sun.
Forever at night
My soul's now doomed to roam
As it searches for peace
But always finding none!
Now that Banshee has stopped  -
She has ceased her wail,
My nightmare it has ended
Along with this tale!
