Something nice

I really love my man,
I really think he's great.
He said he'd take me shopping
Now that the shops stay open late.
He said "I think I'll treat you,
I'd like to buy you something nice,
When I see it I will buy it
No matter what the price!
Well, I was so excited -
I dressed in record time,
I thought I won't waste a minute
'Til he can make that present mine!
He said "I want this to be a secret
So you won't know what it is"
He said we should go our separate ways
So I thought "well then - I will shop for his!"
I dandered round that Shopping Mall
Where I bought a dress and pair of shoes,
I bought candles and some perfume
Plus glossy mags to read the news!
I then bought him a pair of clippers
Since his toe-nails were rather long,
I bought him the latest movie set
Plus a CD that contained his favourite song.
I bought him other bits and pieces
Just to let him know I cared -
To remind him how I loved him
And all those memories that we've shared!
I was happy when I'd finished  -
When all my money it was done -
I'd spend so much time and effort
To buy him stuff that was so personal and fun.
But I knew it would be worth it
'Cos he would do the same for me.
The thought of what he was bringing home
Filled me with anticipation and with glee!
At last, back in our living-room
His eyes filled up with tears
As each present that he opened
Re-called so many happy years!
Then it was my turn  - he handed me a gift well-wrapped.
Oh!  You can't imagine what a 'thrill'
When I opened up his gift for me -
To find he'd bought me a flipping cordless drill!!!!!
Grrr....!
