Our day at the seaside

'Twas in the month of June when we took a journey to the sea.
It was wet and it was windy and it took it's toll on me!
I was dressed in my bikini with just a flimsy dress on top  -
But the wind and rain were howling and all day it didn't stop!
Since we had travelled such a long way we were determined to have fun,
So - we bowed our heads together and we prayed we'd get some sun.
We thought that we had cracked it when those clouds they rolled away,
Yet STILL we got a soaking from the waves and from the Ocean spray!
I was sinking to my middle in all that wet and squidgy sand  -
With the weather we were having there was no hope of ever getting tanned!
We couldn't eat our picnic 'cos all our buns they blew away,
Man!  I have to tell you  -  that was one really awful day!
Usually an ice-cream would have made our day complete
But all the shops had shut and there was not a soul upon the street!
All the hopes that I had had to buy a hat with funny band,
Or to frolic with a beach-ball on the hot and golden sand,
Were dashed that day in June when we went down to the sea  -
Instead I've got the shivers, shakes and sniffles and in need of a little TLC!
