I used to be so pretty
And I used to be so thin
And I used to have a memory
Just as sharp as any pin!
I used to be so youthful
And I used to be so sweet
And I used to be so jolly
And so light upon my feet!
But Nature turned quite nasty
And began to interfere -
First she added wrinkles
Then she made it hard to hear.
She started adding on the pounds
By and extra stone or two
And she slowly took the vision
From my eyes so bright and blue!
She dimmed my burning passions
And bleached my raven hair;
She has stolen all my memories
And sent them God knows where!
Then she turned down all my body heat
So I would feel the cold
And hoped that I'd resent the fact
That I was getting old!
Now Nature might be very smart
And think that she has won -
But I will still be laughing
At her and everyone -
Because despite her interfering
And all the things that she did do
I still feel like a youngster -
At the age of 92!! |
