Last surviving veteran

Once more they come to haunt me
To wake me in the night!
Their dying cries torment me
And remind me of their plight!
"Don't let the World forget us
Or the good we tried to do -
We fought for truth and justice
For people such as you!
Our bones are scattered widely
And our souls are floating free  -
Yet the World remembers us
Only fleetingly!
Time is marching on so quickly
With new generations being born -
Inform them of our sacrifice -
We heroes long since gone!"
They come to me to haunt me
And to wake me in the night
Their battle cries torment me
And remind me of our fight!
We gave our lives to save our Nation
So our people could be free
And we last surviving veterans
Beg you all to hear our plea!
Don't let it be for nothing -
Never lose your basic rights.
Ensure tomorrow is protected -
No more wars and no more fights!
