I wish

I wish your voice would speak to me
In a tone so soft and low
But instead you snap and growl at me
Because you just don't want to know!

I wish your heart could melt and be
So tender, warm and true
But you prefer to distance me
So very far from you!

I wish you'd let those barriers down
Because time is racing by
Instead you glare without a sound
Each time you hear me sigh!

I wish just once you'd look at me
In a way that you never do
Then say the words you love me
As other Mothers do!

I wish you could acknowledge me
And beckon me to you
I wish you'd love and cherish me
Or is that just too much too?

I wish you'd say "I love you dear"
With your arms held open wide
But its no good 'cos I know your love
Has long-since gone and died!

I wish you'd let me be your rock
So I could get attached to you
But your out-stretched hand acts like a block
And halts me when I do.

But precious time is running out
And soon it will be done -
I wish that I could melt your heart
And you'd love me like a Mum!!
