I remember teacher saying
"I want you all to make a card
That says I Love You Mum -
You must colour it all nicely
Then sign it when you're done!
Since it's Mother's Day this Sunday
You must let her know
How much you really love her
So your card will tell her so!"
But since I hadn't got a Mummy
To make that present for
I signed that card "To Daddy"
Since you took the place of her!
You nursed me as a baby
Then watched me as I grew,
You cried tears of pride and pleasure
When my first steps were to you!
Through my childhood you did guide me,
Picked me up each time I fell,
Your arms they gave me comfort -
All my fears you helped to quell!
On my Wedding Day you walked me
Very proudly up that aisle,
Every step I've took in life
You have been there all the while!
I have felt protected, loved and wanted -
Everything I am -
I am because of you -
That's why I write upon those little cards
"Dads CAN be Mothers too!" |
