You left me today - left without a word.
I awoke to find an empty room
Yet the sun still shone, the breeze still blew -
The air was free from hate and gloom!
Tears do not fall, sighs do not escape -
My heart is really soaring free!
My heart skips a beat, it seems to sing
"Now I can start to live for me!"
For years I have been weeping -
Oh yes! so many teardrops they did fall
I wonder how many tears I really shed?
I just know I could never count them all!
It is easier to count the pebbles on a beach,
Each tiny grain of sand, each bird upon the wing,
Each grain of pollen, each leaf upon a tree,
Or all the stars above a-twinkling.
Thank God there's no more sorrow -
There's no more treats or bruising me,
When you left me here with nothing
You in fact, at long last, really set me free!
