Arch of roses

Beneath that arch of roses Beatrice sat and how she sighed  -
She was tired and oh so lonely even though she was soon to be a bride!

Her sweetheart he had left her by those pillars on the lawn
He had galloped out into the moonlight saying "I will return before the dawn!"

She opened up her journal and began to read the words therein,
And she shed a tear remembering how her first love did begin!

But before the night-time it was over, a knock came loudly to her door
They said her sweetheart he lay dying - so she would see her love no more!

So, tonight beneath that arch of roses Beatrice sat and how she sighed
As she penned her final moments and the reasons why she died!
