The words
you spoke have hurt me
You say you're not returning home,
You've gone and settled somewhere else
So far across the foam. A Lifetime I have waited
For approval just from you
But my waiting days are over
When you spoke the word 'adieu'.
You chose to cast us all aside
For the one you love much more
How could you go and turn your back
On the other eight you bore?
We all may well be grown-up
With families of our own
But we still need to have you Mum
To call all your children home.
With Father gone we hoped you'd be
Our one true guiding light
But you prefer to shut us out
And not have us in your sight!
The one you chose above us all
Is so selfish and so cold
He really doesn't care for you
But - you simply won't be told.
You abandoned us without a word
When you left some months ago -
You never called to say goodbye
Or told us where you'd go.
Is there no love within your heart
For those you've left behind?
Perhaps you think we're cold like you
And we truly do not mind!
But now you're in another land
And that's probably where you'll die -
Why can't you call or contact us
And just simply tell us why?
